WOMAN OF THE WEEK
A little about her
I am currently working three part-time jobs. I am an X-ray technologist at Huntsman Cancer Hospital, a substitute teacher at my son’s school, and I also work for a community acupuncturist two days a week. I love spending time with my family, hiking, movies, camping, Friday night pizza nights, and swimming.
Anyone who knows me knows my family consumes my heart and the majority of my time. I also really enjoy yoga. I think adding at least one day a week to your training is extremely beneficial .
What brought her to Team Fitbliss
Since moving to Utah in 2016, I bounced from gym to gym looking for the right “fit”. I liked the idea of being surrounded and supported by other like-minded, strong women. Plus my coach was highly recommended to me!
Someone who inspires her
Hillary Goldstein, I aspire to be as cool, calm, and collected as her. Confident and kind, bold and daring when necessary. She has encouraged and inspired me to be a better version of myself.
Her favorite lift
Deadlifts, hands down. They make me feel strong and powerful!
What she enjoys about training
I began lifting almost 5 years ago. The confidence I have gained from becoming stronger has spilled over into all aspects of my day to day life. When you feel strong- you ARE strong. Many women suffer from anxiety, depression, etc., myself included. However, lifting is my therapy! It is my time and my space to clear my head and have me time. No kids, no job, no screens, just me, the barbell and a tribe of supportive women all there for many of the same reasons.
What she has accomplished since joining our team
I have made some pretty big lifting gains just within the last year since joining, but I am confident that my BIGGEST accomplishment is my form while training. My form has changed immensely. I think we are forever learning proper form, but I cannot believe the education I have been given from the Fitbliss team. I have been given cues that were never shown to me in the last 6 gyms I have been to in 5 years
Her favorite macro-friendly food
I love to eat and I LOVE that with Fitbliss I can eat and never feel as if I’m dieting!
I have loved learning about foods that I can eat from fast food places that still hit my macros. I used to think fast food was the devil and I would mentally beat myself up if I ate it, because it was “bad”. The Fitbliss Facebook group page and Coach Lynndsey’s posts have really helped me in this area to know it’s okay to eat these things in moderation, and that there are some good options out there. One of my favorites is three hardshell turkey tacos from DelTaco 🙂
A struggle along the way
I struggle a lot with mom guilt. It’s something I deal with daily, but I have a very supportive husband that encourages me to continue exercising and wants me to have the freedom of “me” time because it helps me to stay physically and mentally well. It is also important to me that my boys see me have my own hobby outside of work and mommyhood. They get to see me as a strong and confident mamma!
Biggest takeaway from working with Team Fitbliss
Learning about flexible dieting has been the biggest takeaway! It is such a feeling of freedom knowing I can eat anything I want as long as I stay within my macros. This is my first experience with flexible dieting and it works and is so easy to change based on what your current goals are.
I hurt myself recently, (unrelated to lifting) and so I missed the testing for max effort last week. I am dying to increase my deadlift from 225lbs to at least 240lbs.
