Fitbliss
WOMAN OF THE WEEK
Dani Thomson

A little about her

I am currently a sales manager for PillPack Pharmacy. I‘m the manager of 22 human beings that have put me in a position to grow and learn more about people than I ever thought I could.

In my spare time, I love to go up in the mountains with my boyfriend and fur babies. We love to camp, hike, and kayak (anything that allows me to have fresh air and not have cell service). In the winter I just try not to freeze to death! On the weekends I am always snowboarding and having a nice pint to make the cold feel warmer. OR I am binge watching the office while taking a bubble bath.

What brought her to Team Fitbliss

I came to Fitbliss because I needed a community! I have always been active in my life. I am highly competitive with my own potential and  am constantly trying to find out who the best “Dani” is.  Discipline was never a strong skill of mine growing up. I would easily quit goals or pretend I didn’t care because I feared failure. Because of this mindset, I put myself on pause. I could never progress and I felt like I was frozen. This let me to a cycle of depression and the feeling of hitting rock bottom multiple times.

The last 2 years have been life changing for me. I started going to the gym consistently. I started to lift weights and I went back to the basics. I was on a journey to simply love myself no matter the cost. I had to cut off a lot of toxic relationships, thoughts, ideas, and belief systems. Up until then, I hadn’t realized what a toxic garden I was growing in my own mind.

Going to the gym was like my gardening for my mindset. I would lift weights and I could see the weeds being pulled out and new seeds planted. Each lift, each set, each rep, my weeds were dying and through the dirt-flowers were growing. It helped me become disciplined in every area of my life! I joined Big Mountain Barbell around February 2018. I would see the Ladies Lift Fitbliss classes during my workouts and there was an energy about them that kept pulling my heartstrings.

So, after a few months of watching I joined and I am so glad I did! Joining Fitbliss has pushed my physical abilities and mind in a way I didn’t think was possible. Remember the garden I was speaking about? Well, with Fitbliss, not only was I able to plant new healthy seeds and weed out the crap, but I’m around people who are doing the EXACT SAME THING! There is so much support and love in this group. Everyone wants the best for you. I didn’t think that a community of such strong women existed (and a bonus was within walking distance from my house). I look up to each Fitbliss woman for so many different reasons. I love that I get to see them face to face and be a part of their growth and self development and it pushes me to do the same. Fitbliss has been a foundation for me that I never knew I was missing.

Someone who inspires her

First and foremost, my coach Sharon inspires me so much. Her mindset and the work she has put in to get where she is right now is just motivating and empowering. She’s the type of person who makes you feel good just talking to her. She is freaking powerful beyond measure!

I also want to add my boyfriend Chad. He is such a rock. Nothing ever stops him from hitting a goal. He never complains, he never plays the victim, he never takes his anger out on anybody or anything (because he is never angry). He always does what he says he is going to do and is so disciplined (unless he is around jelly beans lol).  Negativity can’t touch this guy. He is just someone who lifts others up and never takes credit or wants the limelight. His core values are full of goodness and he inspires me to do the same.

Her favorite lift

My relationship with DEADLIFTS has always been strong. There is something about looking down at the bar with multiple plates and knowing you got your lift off the ground that makes you feel like a BADASS BABE. However, I’m starting to have a little crush on bench lately. It’s a different thrill to allow the bar to come so close to your chest, lungs, and heart and yet push it off of you. It just makes me feel so powerful!

What she has accomplished since joining our team

HOW TO FREAKING BRACE MY CORE AND NOT STICK MY BUTT OUT IN A SQUAT. When I first started, I had so many issues with my form and I had no idea they were stopping me from becoming stronger.  I am now lifting triple digit numbers on all of my main lifts! I would have laughed at you if you told me 6 months ago I would be this strong and lifting this much weight. I’m STRONG!

A struggle along the way

Fear of failure. I’ve thought a lot about this concept and have lived my life mainly running away from the fear of pain or failure when in reality I needed to lean into these fears and charge them head on because with that comes finding some of the greatest joys I’ve ever experienced.

You have to doubt to love, you have to be weak to gain strength, you have to fall to walk, you have to fail to succeed. The hard experiences are actually the steps you have to take to get where you want to be.

Biggest takeaway from working with Team Fitbliss

The biggest thing I feel I have learned since working with Fitbliss is how to build a healthy relationship with myself and others. I am such a better friend to myself since beginning this program and I’m learning how to allow people in to be a part of my journey!

Upcoming goals

Strength: In 3 months, I hope to have accomplished new PRS:   300lbs deadlift, 140lbs Bench, and 205lbs squat.

Fitness: I am prepping for a bikini comp in March/June! I want to work on being on track for that and having a routine that I can nail for the stage!

Health: I’m super hungry for my goals and sometimes I don’t listen to my body telling me to slow down. I hope to find that balance of pushing myself and getting the rest I need.
