Each week we like to spotlight one of the incredible female athletes that make up our team. Today we are highlighting Jen! Jen is a construction manager who oversees projects throughout New York City. She is an NPC competitor and works with primary coach, Lynndsey!

 


 

A Little About Her

I am a mother to 2 children. My son is 10 years old and my daughter is 6. I love spending my time off with my family (although it is limited). My “me time” is definitely spent at the gym!

 

What Brought Her to Fitbliss

I had been following flexible dieting for over a year prior to working with Fitbliss, but really wanted to take my passion for fitness and accountability to the next level, without compromising my health in the process. Fitbliss really seemed to align with my goals and beliefs.

 

Favorite Lift

Definitely the deadlift. Being that I am an online client and don’t have the luxury of having a workout partner, deadlifts allow me the freedom to lift to my capacity without letting fear of failure get in my head, and there is just something about it that makes me feel like such a strong woman when I deadlift.

I think training is so empowering. I myself have had the passion for lifting since I was a teenager. It’s like meditation for me, is is the one activity that I can completely block out all of my life stresses and thoughts and get strong mentally and physically at the same time.

 

Someone Who Inspires Her

My Fitbliss coach, Lynndsey is such an inspiration to me because she is an example of a real life person juggling so many things between fitness goals, career, and family obligations, all while remaining so positive. She accomplishes so much but also knows when to step back from some goals when it is not the right time in life. This has helped me learn how to prioritize and know that sometimes you can’t successfully do everything, and that’s okay. My parents have always inspired me as well and taught me by example a great work ethic.

 

What She Has Accomplished Since Starting With Fitbliss

Competing in my first NPC bikini competition this May was something that seemed impossible for me to do.  I was always such a shy girl and suffered from body image issues, but felt it was so important to set a goal outside of my comfort level.

 

Favorite Macro-Friendly Food

Almost every night, I have some protein “Cookie Dough” with Halo Top Ice Cream.  What I love about it is it feels like I am having a big dessert and I can adjust the quantities everyday to ensure I meet my protein/macro goals.  I also love preparing all types of healthy macro/micro-friendly meals by making them interesting utilizing various spices.

 

Biggest Takeaway From Working With Team Fitbliss

I had always had an all or nothing mentality.  Working with Fitbliss and continuing with the flexible dieting lifestyle has helped me have balance in my diet and all aspects of my life. I have learned to better plan and organize my goals, and then through consistency, slowly reach those goals.

 

An Obstacle She Has Overcome

Turning 40 this past week has let me reflect and remember to be proud of my accomplishments and not beat myself up if I don’t always achieve perfection.  Throughout my life I would cry or not enjoy certain activities because I was not lean enough, now I try to enjoy life with my family as much as I can, I still have my moments, but it is much improved.

 

Upcoming Goals

I hope to continue to gain strength, add muscle, and hopefully step on stage again in the near future and become more competitive.
