Woman of the Week
A little about her
I work at Alta View Orthodontics as an assistant and receptionist, I absolutely love my job and the people I work with.
In my spare time I first and foremost love to spend every second I can with my son. I also love being at the gym, on a horse, or in the mountains hiking.
What brought her to Team Fitbliss
After years of Bailee Shillington convincing me to give Fitbliss a chance at every hair appointment I had, as well as Alexus Martinez and her journey to competing really inspiring me, I finally decided to try it! I have had a desire to compete for a few years but I didn’t have the confidence in myself and had some very negative people in my life. Now I’m fully immersed in the Fitbliss program proving to myself I can and I will teach my son how to work hard and that he can and will reach his goals.
Her favorite lift
I really love bench right now! It is my weakest lift, however I have really enjoyed working on my form, getting stronger, and seeing my progress.
What she has accomplished since joining our team
Building some serious muscles. I thought I was tough before but man oh man I have grown a lot in the past year and I love all the muscles.
Her favorite macro-friendly food
Chick-fil-A! I’m not even ashamed to admit I go there at least 3 times a week. Their grilled nuggets help me get that protein in, and the diet lemonade is bomb (thanks Sami for that recommendation/new addiction).
Someone who inspires her
My mom, she started my love for fitness and is my biggest supporter in and out of the gym. She has always set a great example of always making time for the gym and having a balanced way of eating.
When I was struggling with eating in high school she jumped on that immediately and set me up with a coach and nutritionist to show me the ways.
I love our Friday training sessions we have with Sami.
My mom is the hardest worker I know in and out of the gym. She always shows up no matter how hard things get, she is one tough cookie.
A struggle along the way
My plan was to do my first bikini comp the past June. However I was under a huge amount of stress in my personal life and my body was just not having it, I had ZERO control. I wasn’t where I needed to be even though I was giving everything 100%. Everything I ate made me feel sick. I learned to listen to my body and felt it was best to wait and do a show next year. I couldn’t just stop there, I had worked so hard I wanted to do something so I switched to powerlifting and did my first comp September 7th. May-August this year were really hard for me mentally and physically with everything my body was going through. I feel very blessed to have such a great support system in my family and my coach Sami who has been there for me every step of the way.
Biggest takeaway from working with Team Fitbliss
TRUST THE PROCESS. Learning to love my body through thick and thin… literally. I have had the hardest time mentally with letting my body get bigger so that I can build the muscles I need to get where I want to be. I really love the push, it has gotten me out of my comfort zone, helped me love, respect, and be proud of me and my body in the building stages and the lean stages.
I want to put on some serious muscle so I can crush my first bikini competition and hit some good PR’s at my next powerlifting competition.
